Stanislav's change and embracing opportunity in Prague
Stanislav's transition to the Czech Republic mirrors a seamless blend of professional growth and personal adaptation, navigating time zone adjustments and housing challenges with ease. His anticipation of future steps, like moving with a partner, and pragmatic approach to learning Czech, spotlight the journey's dual nature as both opportunity and challenge.
Could you share how you managed the move and acclimatization to a new environment?
Adjusting to the time zone was initially a challenge, but apart from that, the transition went smoothly.

How do you feel about your new role since the move?
I’m completely satisfied. I’ve taken on the challenge of developing our embedded systems department, leveraging my experience in embedded and power electronic systems to introduce new technologies in new markets.

Did you encounter any significant challenges, and how were they addressed?
Finding an apartment was a hurdle, especially arriving at the peak of student <arrivals in late September. We had to act quickly on available listings.

Has moving with a partner presented any unique challenges?
So far I can’t point out anything special. We are in the process. The process itself is quite transparent, I hope there will be no unpleasant surprises.

What’s your experience with learning and understanding the Czech language?
My work involves substantial business travel, leaving limited time to study or practice Czech.

Have you managed to learn any Czech so far?
I’ve picked up essential phrases for daily tasks, like grocery shopping, but that’s about it.

How did you find the visa process, especially considering moving as a couple?
That’s a situation I’m yet to fully navigate, so I’ll have more to say on that matter later.

Could you share any particularly positive or negative experiences you’ve had so far?
While searching for an apartment was stressful and not exactly negative, it was certainly a learning curve. The dynamic market required a quick adjustment in strategy, which, with the help of the relocation manager, was promptly addressed.

Lastly, any advice for others contemplating relocation?
Advice tends to be quite personal, but generally, relocation is both a significant opportunity and a challenge. It’s important to be ready for substantial changes in your life.
