How is life in Prague for expats?
Have you found a job in the capital of the Czech Republic? Or are you just thinking about finding one because you found out on one of the job portals that Prague offers a variety of job opportunities for Java Developers and DevOps? Then you will be interested to know how foreigners live in Prague. The following article is dedicated to this topic.

Security
It's no secret that people move to metropolises in search of good jobs and big money. However, many European metropolises are dangerous and have a number of no go zones, making them a worse place to live. Prague is much better off in this matter, offering relative safety compared to other capitals. It is safe to walk almost anywhere and anytime - day or night.
Working life
The work culture here is much more relaxed compared to other Western European and American cities, as work life is not a top priority for many people in Prague. And even the working hours are shorter, with 8-hour shifts being the norm, and in the IT sector it's not a problem to find part-time jobs. Employers are also open to working from home.
Objectively, living in Prague is an ideal place to combine work and personal life - you won't have to spend long hours at work and you can make a decent living at the same time. Similarly, there are promising opportunities in IT - a sector that has seen good financial growth in recent years (despite the crisis).

Cost of living
For many years, Prague has been a cheap city for foreigners to go to for entertainment. This has changed somewhat, as the cost of living in Prague has also been rising rapidly in recent years. However, it is definitely not a city where you would have a problem making a living. In any case, the biggest problem for immigrants is the rather high cost of housing, while cultural and social activities are cheap. Not to mention that Prague has free healthcare and free education - a luxury that people in other countries can only dream of.
After-work activities
If after-work activities are just as important to you as work, you'll find a wide range of cultural and social experiences in Prague. Even the biggest artists come to Prague regularly and international tours are also organized here. It also has the advantage of hosting many events exclusively for foreigners (mostly in English), even entire festivals. In short, it is definitely not necessary to speak Czech at a high level to participate in the social life in Prague!

What is life like in the different parts of the wider center of Prague?
Just like in any other major city, the experience varies from district to district. For example, Prague 2 is the best place in terms of accessibility to the center and the price of living. Not to mention that a lot of bike paths have recently been created here, which will please those of you who plan to ride to work by bike.
In terms of housing attractiveness, Prague 5, for example Košíře, is also worth mentioning, same as Prague 4, for example Podolí. Prague 1, on the other hand, is a place where only a handful of people live permanently.
