Amangeldy: A family's journey of relocation and adaptation
In our latest interview, we explore the insightful journey of Amangeldy who navigated the process of moving abroad with his family. Facing the dual challenges of adapting to a new culture and professional environment, he shares a compelling story of resilience. From tackling the language barrier to finding a balance between work and life in a foreign landscape, his experiences offer a roadmap for others contemplating a similar leap.
How difficult is moving and subsequent acclimatization in a new environment?
Moving wasn’t exactly difficult; it was more about feeling a bit out of place when everything around you is unfamiliar. It’s a learning curve, but not an insurmountable one.

How satisfied are you with your new job after moving?
The job has been a positive change for me. It’s far less stressful than my previous role, allowing me to really appreciate the balance between work and life.

Were there any problems/challenges and how were they solved?
The language barrier was, and to some extent still is a significant challenge. It's an ongoing process to improve and adapt.

How difficult is it to move with your whole family including your wife and a little boy to a new country?
Indeed, it was a stressful ordeal. The key is to face the challenges head-on. It's about overcoming the hurdles you encounter along the way.

Have you been able to find a kindergarten/flat near the city center or further from the city?
Finding a kindergarten for children under three was challenging due to high demand. We managed to secure a spot, although it's not as close to our home as we would have liked.

How about the Czech language? Has it been challenging to learn and understand?
Yes, knowing only a few basic words at first made it tough. Even with knowledge of Russian, understanding Czech perfectly was not straightforward

Have you learned anything in the Czech language already?
I've made some progress, yes. I can now engage in simple conversations, which has been quite rewarding.

How do kids feel about relocation and adaptation to a new school/environment?
Surprisingly, it seems to have had little to no effect on my son. Children are remarkably resilient.

Do you have any tips for other people who are thinking about relocation?
Starting anew in a different country is never easy. I’d suggest being prepared, mentally and emotionally. Buying some antidepressants might help at the beginning. But, truly, it's all about staying brave and optimistic. The journey, despite its challenges, is worth it.
